Is God Enough?

135 ( 121 | 14 )

At the end of the book, Habakkuk closes with this beautiful and poetic passage that is well worth your memorizing. "Though the fig tree should not blossom and there be no fruit on the vines ... yet I will exult in the Lord, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation ..."
Habakkuk was told that God would bring judgment on Israel. The Chaldeans would be coming and there would be devastation. Habakkuk was silently waiting in dread for the inevitable day to come. And as he contemplated the hard days ahead, he resolved to rejoice in God, though there would be nothing else to rejoice in. Can you do that? Are you able to rejoice in God alone? Is God enough for you, or is God a means to an end? Is Christ merely one of your many hobbies, but not your ALL? Can you say "Amen" to the closing verses of Habakkuk with whole-hearted sincerity?
