Christmas in Genesis: Justifying Grace
Series Christmas
34
In this second sermon on "Christmas in Genesis", by God's wise and gracious decree we see the foundation laid in Adam's first sin for the great and wonderful doctrine of justification by faith.
The first Adam, by the decree of God, was a type of the last Adam to come (Gen 3:15; Rom 5:14). Because of God's use of federal headship, all mankind has the first Adam's guilt and sin imputed to them (original sin). Though this seems unfair to some, this is actually part of God's grace to us, for it is only if we are declared sinners in Adam that we can be declared righteous in Christ (the last Adam).
