How to be a Faithful and Wise Steward

104

The Apostle Paul continues his wise counsel to the church at Corinth, with advice that could well be directed to ministers, pastors and people, in the church of our day:

  1. The Dangers of self-deceit: - We are not to deceive ourselves, imagining that we are of more importance than we are. Do not think that God does not see us in our folly. He knows the thoughts of man, we cannot deceive Him. To ignore God's commands is to invite ruin. Indeed, the church should uphold and defend the moral law contained in the Ten Commandments.

  2. God has given us so much more: - We are, after all, only servants, and we stand in a very privileged place! We ought not to hero-worship any man, as all, even the best of men, have got the proverbial feet-of-clay. Let us open our eyes, for it is to Christ we should look, as we belong to Him.

  3. Servants, but..!: - Speaking with apostolic authority Paul has strong things to say, keeping nothing back he sought to present the whole counsel of God. So should those who today are called to be 'stewards of the mysteries of God'. Is this you, if so you have a special responsibility. Say and teach what you have been given. Speak the truth, do what you do with a clear conscience, and remember that - 'It is required in a steward that he be found faithful'!
