What Made the Wise Men Wise

Only in this passage is there any reference in the Bible to the wise men. But in spite of the sparse notice taken of them, their testimony and influence has been very large ever since their courageous journey to worship the child Jesus. That they were men of faith is evident from the joy they had when they saw the star again and when they were finally able to present their gifts to Christ. There have been many attempts to minimize what they did, but the facts are apparent that they knew the Scriptures, that they were seeking for the Christ of whom the Scriptures spoke, and that they were anxious to be found in submission to the will of God.
