Appealing to Higher Motives

Paul addresses a sensitive matter within the household of Philemon involving a runaway bond-servant. Is Paul being manipulative? Does he hide an iron fist inside that soft glove? How does one approach a good believer who may have a soft spot for certain sins and make an appeal to higher ideals without dwelling on the thoughts of conflict that are inevitable if they do not? Christian love takes many risks. They may be covered in carefulness. But they are risky risks none the less.
