Not Ashamed of the Gospel: Unity with Non-Evangelicals

Why would Paul tell Timothy not to be ashamed of the gospel when Timothy was already a Christian? Many today, though believing on Christ and evangelical in doctrine are ashamed of the gospel. They bury this truth when they ought to proclaim it at all cost. Sadly when we unite with non-evangelicals the very people who most need to hear our testimony for the truth get silence instead. Something needs to change. We need to hear the cry of God's heart as he pleads with us as with Timothy, "Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord."
