Valuing Life: Why do we value the life of some children and not others?

Today marks the 40th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion in the United States. Since that decision in 1973, over 54.5 million American Babies have died as a result of abortion. There are over 3300 abortion everyday – about 137 – or one dead baby every thirty seconds.

On Sunday, Rebecca Hagelin wrote in the Washington Times of irony surrounding three national events all taking place this week in the nation's capital. The three events are:

The inauguration of the first black president who is also the most pro-abortion president in history.

The celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day

And the marking of the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, legalizing abortion

Haglin writes, “In the wake of Sandy Hook's horror, this year's March for Life begs an urgent answer to an important question — why do we treasure the lives of some children and not others? Why does Mr. Obama take 23 executive actions to “save one life” through gun control, while promoting and funding an organization like Planned Parenthood that actively kills others? In light of the fact that Planned Parenthood's very origins were birthed in an effort to specifically abort black babies, how is it that this particular president is their greatest champion? And how can America collectively practice such evil and simultaneously celebrate the life, teachings and work of the brave and brilliant King?”
