Let's think about it in the light of the sower, the seed and the soil.

The Sower and His Seed change not.

The sower and his seed: the sower sows the seed intentionally and directly on the ground that has been prepared.

1st Soil mentioned:

Indirectly, seed will fall upon areas that were not made ready when he broadcast his seed. Seed will indirectly fall on deaf ears.

2nd soil mentioned:
Seed will indirectly fall on a mind and emotions of them that take hold of what the crowd they are surrounded by grabs. They don't look within but around them and gauge the people in their circle on how they respond to it. They follow along with the crowd and mentally and emotionally are caught up in the moment. But the test will prove it wasn't personal but more of a corporate commitment and not a personal one so they will not stand on nor stand up for the word when put under pressure.

3rd soil mentioned:
Seed will indirectly fall on those that are savvy and well equipped with intellectual information and they will add this new information and insight to their repertoire and portfolio of options for doing life. The word becomes another means of self help tools but it just can't hold up next to all the other worldly wisdom for doing life without Jesus.

4th soil mentioned: Seed will directly and intentionally fall on the good ground that the sower had prepared and they will hear, understand, accept it as their own and see it spring up, increase and bear fruit to the glory of God. The ground is described as being a good and noble heart by Luke, unlike the hard wayside where every walks when they pass the prepared and planted field, the rockier shallow so
