Look to the Spirit
Series Freedom in Christ
Last week, we talked learned from v13-15 that our freedom is not to be used to indulge our flesh. Our liberty is not a license to sin and live selfish lives. Rather, God says the proper use of our freedom is to serve one another through love. Putting their needs above my own, giving myself to their well-being. By doing so, I do them good and bring God glory by fulfilling the law of God.
This all sounds good in theory, but when the reality is that it is hard to serve others through love. It is easier to be selfish and focus on what I want instead of what others need. Besides sometimes people are difficult to love. They fail to live up to my expectations, or do things that annoy me, or are even hostile toward me. When that happens, I am not thinking about how can I show them love? How can I serve them?
What is going on? If this is what God has saved me to do, why is it so hard for me?
