Something Holy

Mary wonders how she can become pregnant without a man, but says, 'Let it be so to me according to your word'. So simply—from her point of view—Christ is born as a holy child into a profane world.

Holiness is not primarily a behaviour. It is a relationship. And God has come near to us in our Saviour, Christ. We become God's holy children using Mary's words—'Let it be so to me…'. From then on, our life is not what we produce but what God does. And this is holy.
