Great Joy for All People

God's gospel is for the least and the last. For proof, look no further than those who were the first hearers of the gospel proclaimed from heaven. Shepherds in 1st century Palestine were the least likely people to receive a divine message, the last ones anyone would have expected to receive such a blessing. Because of their occupation, and their rough reputation, shepherds were the ones left out in their society, kept at a distance, always on the outside looking in.
