Does Jesus+Nothing=Everything?
Series Interview w/David Murray
Crossway Publishing has recently released a new book entitled “Jesus + Nothing = Everything” written by Tullian Tchividjian. In this book Tullian uses that simply equation to call upon Christians to rediscover the gospel and to lean hard on Christ in every area of life. That is certainly an expression that every Christian should whole-heartily embrace.
The details supporting the words used in this simply formula are we find a bit of disagreement.
Recently, David Murray – professor of Old Testament & Practical Theology at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary – questioned the conclusion of this equation in a three-part blog post that began with the question “Does Jesus + Nothing = Everything?”
Murray, after praising much of what Tullian has written in the book, says, “However, I'm concerned about three confusions at the heart of Tullian's book.” Those three areas are listed as:
The confusion between justification and sanctification
The confusion between personal experience and universal experience
The confusion between standing with God and enjoyment of God
On the program today, David Murray and I will discuss those three areas in greater detail.
