Behold My Beloved!

26

All throughout Matthew's Gospel we find the former tax collector showing us how Jesus Christ fulfilled every Messianic expectation of the Old Testament Scriptures. In these verses he quotes from Isaiah 42:1-4, the longest Old Testament quotation in Matthew. From these verses we learn several things: 1. God the Father commends the Messiah. 2. The Messiah will be humble. 3. The Messiah will be gentle. 4. The Messiah will be triumphant. 5. The Messiah will be believed upon in all the world! Truly, Jesus is the Promised Messiah.
