AN EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY CHRISTMAS
Luke 2:1-20

The story of the birth of Jesus in Luke 2:1-20 shows that he is God's extraordinary Deliverer for ordinary, needy people like us.

  1. God Placed His Deliverer AMONG Ordinary People
    (2:1-7)

*By God's design, the birth of Jesus has
    universal significance (1-3)

*By God's design, Jesus was born in the City of
    David by Caesar's decreee (4-5)

*By God's design, Jesus was born in humble
    circumstances (6-7)

Jesus Christ is fully at home with you in the
midst of your lowest, humblest circumstances.

  2. God Sent the News of His Deliverer TO Ordinary
    People (2:8-14)

*God sent His angel to shepherds and surrounded
    them with His glory (8-9)

*The good news of Jesus' birth as God's Savior
    welcomed the shepherd's (10-12)

*Heaven added its exclamation point of praise to
God and peace for His people (13-14)

The good news that Jesus Christ has come to
deliver his needy people is for all of us. He
welcomes all who come to him.

  3. God Spread the News of His Deliverer BY Ordinary
    People (2:15-20)

*The shepherds went, saw, and told God's good
    news to others (15-17)

*Those who heard responded with wonder,
    reflection, and praise(18-20)

Let the reality of Christ's coming and his good
news to you overflow in the good news to others.
