AN EXTRAORDINARY ORDINARY CHRISTMAS
Luke 2:1-20
The story of the birth of Jesus in Luke 2:1-20 shows that he is God's extraordinary Deliverer for ordinary, needy people like us.
God Placed His Deliverer AMONG Ordinary People
(2:1-7)*By God's design, the birth of Jesus has
universal significance (1-3)*By God's design, Jesus was born in the City of
David by Caesar's decreee (4-5)*By God's design, Jesus was born in humble
circumstances (6-7)Jesus Christ is fully at home with you in the
midst of your lowest, humblest circumstances.God Sent the News of His Deliverer TO Ordinary
People (2:8-14)*God sent His angel to shepherds and surrounded
them with His glory (8-9)*The good news of Jesus' birth as God's Savior
welcomed the shepherd's (10-12)*Heaven added its exclamation point of praise to
God and peace for His people (13-14)The good news that Jesus Christ has come to
deliver his needy people is for all of us. He
welcomes all who come to him.God Spread the News of His Deliverer BY Ordinary
People (2:15-20)*The shepherds went, saw, and told God's good
news to others (15-17)*Those who heard responded with wonder,
reflection, and praise(18-20)Let the reality of Christ's coming and his good
news to you overflow in the good news to others.
