21st Century

Great enemies of the Church of Christ fall as the Saviour's cause advances. What are we to make of it all?

  1. A Caution: Pessimism is not in order for Christians

A. The Devil will be defeated (Luke 10.17-19, Revelation 17.1-18; 18.1-24; 19.17-21; 20.1-10).

B. Sufferings will not destroy believers (Romans 8.28, 35-36; John 16.33; 2 Cor 6.1-10; Rom 8.37).

C. Things to come cannot separate us from the love of God (Romans 8.38-39)

D. Christ 'the same yesterday, & today & for ever' (Hebrews 13.8)

  1. Certainties: Plain things are to be believed by Christians

A. The progress of the Church (Matthew 16.16-18; 1 Peter 2.2-6).

B. The fulness of Israel (Romans 11.25-29; Isaiah 59.20-21).

C. The fall of the enemies of Christ (Revelation 17-20)

D. The End (Revelation 20.8-15; 1 Thessalonians 4.16-17).

  1. Conduct: Practice is what matters for Christians

A. Readiness (Matthew 24.37-44).
B. Watchfulness (Matthew 24.42-43).
C. Faithfulness (Matthew 24.45; 1 Corinthians 4.1-2)
D. Wisdom (Proverbs 4.7; Genesis 24.10-28).
E. Humility (Philippians 2.5-8).
F. Service (Matthew 24.46; 48-51).
G. Compassion (Matthew 25.34-40; 1 John 4.7-8)

Conclusion: (1 John 4.10-11)
