The Maturity of Faith

Have you noticed that our world today lacks maturity? Politicians feud like toddlers having a tantrum, the news media tells on everyone like a school room snitch, and men behave like selfish little boys degrading women and running away to play video games instead of raising children to maturity. Spiritual maturity is what every believer should be advancing toward. Look at the virgin Mary. She was no more than a teenager when the angel Gabriel visited her and gave her the most magnificent news. She was probably all but 13. Look at her response to the work of God in the world which intersected the whole of her life: “I am the Lord’s servant, may it be to me as you have said.” The marks of spiritual maturity are spiritual understanding and loving, humble submission to the holy will of God and His gracious providence.
