The Condescension of Christ

Have you ever considered the amount of humility that it took for the Son of God to move from the right hand of the Father into the womb of Mary? This was a free choice of the Son to display love for the Father and humanity. He volunteered to take on human flesh and dwell among man. When we considered the glory of heaven he gave up, the distance that He travelled, and the place He came to live, it is astonishing, mesmerizing, and captivating to see how one of such greatness would stoop so low to display love to the least of these. This morning as we considered the incarnation of Christ, I want us to think about how He stepped down to reach people like you and me. Our title will be The Condescension of Christ, His Highness’s Lowliness, The Lord’s Lowliness and I would like for us to consider the following from Philippians 2:1-11: 1) The Encouragement of Condescension-lowliness 2) The Example of Condescension 3) The Exaltation of Condescension.
