The Real “Christmas Tree”.
I Text:
“14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. 15 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. “ (Galatians 6:13,14)
II Doctrine:
Jesus the Messiah was born to destroy the works of the Devil and glorify his Father. The Messiah built a bridge between a righteous God and sinful Men on the Cross. Outward signs and symbols can never replace the “Amazing Grace” of God, where a man is born again by the power of God’s Spirit. Paul reiterates God has made a New Covenant available to all Nations through the Blood of Jesus Christ. Paul gives us a beautiful picture of this Covenant tree in the Epistle to the Romans.
III Reasons:
1.Paul was not preaching a fable to start a new religion. A crucified Messiah is not an original doctrine never mentioned in the Old Testament. (Isaiah 53)
2.Through the Cross of Christ the separation between God and Men is bridged, and not through physical circumcision.( Romans 4:1-12)
3.Through the atonement of Jesus the Messiah Jew and Gentile are made one people. God’s world conquest started with Israel and now includes all nations.(1 Peter 2:9; Romans 9:26; Hosea 1:10)
IV Application:
1.The real tree Christians should be familiar with is an Olive tree, not an evergreen conifer on Christmas. (Romans 11:11-17)
2.The Church in the “West” has become like Israel and is boastful, acting like God owes us something even though we are rejecting the work of His Son.(Romans 11:18-24)
3.National Israel will be brought back into God’
