J.C. Ryle's Expository Thoughts on the Gospel of Matthew 2:13-23

Ryle opens his remarks by saying that - "The Lord Jesus came down from heaven to save sinners, and at once we are told that Herod the king "seeks to destroy Him." He comments further under the following heads:
1: The rulers of this world are seldom friendly to the cause of God
2: The Lord Jesus was a "man of sorrows" even from His infancy
3: ...how death can remove the kings of this world, like other men
4: ...what a lesson of humility is taught us by the dwelling-place of the Son of God
He concludes this short exposition by suggesting we should strive to copy our Saviour's humility, endeavouring to be humble ourselves.
