III.22 The impotent man healed (John 5.1-47)
'Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me' (v.7).
I. The significant answer
A. The invalid's answer to Christ's question (v.6-7).
B. Christ's answer to the invalid. (v.8)(Mat.9.3-7,9).
II. The sad animosity
A. What hatred of Christ lurks in our fallen nature! (v.10-16).
B. How sad that these Jews were so legalistic. We must not make ourselves wiser than Christ nor decline to expose ourselves to censure by obedience to Christ.
III. The Saviour's apologetic

A. Christ's Divine nature (vv.19-23).
B. Christ as the fountain of life. (Psalm 36.7-9)(v.24-26).
