Jesus is Our Superior High Priest

Main Idea: Jesus is our superior High Priest.

• Earthly high priests

 Each one is appointed (1a)

 Each one acts on behalf of men in relation to God (1b)

 Each one offers gifts and sacrifices for sins, including his own (1c)

 Each one deals gently because of his own sinful weaknesses (2-3)

 Each one is called by God (4)

• Christ

 Christ did not exalt Himself to be made High Priest (5a)

 Christ was appointed by God…

 As King: My Son (Ps 2:7) (5b)

 As Priest: A priest forever after the order of Melchizedek (Ps 110:4) (6)

Applications

We have a King...we need to acknowledge Him as such!

We have a High Priest….we need to acknowledge Him as such!

We need to live in confident expectation of what He will do!!
