Connecting Truth and Love

Now John says we love while being in atmosphere of Truth. But we love not just because this truth has changed our lives but because the Truth ultimately is in us. And when the truth is in us. God is in us. He is The Truth. And He is Love. When God the Truth abides in us then God who is Love will love in us. Love, you see, is the evidence not only that we know the truth but that the Truth is in us.

Application:

1. The truth is not the enemy of Love but the activating agent of it.
2. If we would love better we must appreciate and grow in the Truth.
3. Any celebration of a truth from God's Word that excludes us from love for the body of Christ and members within it is either a truth wrongly held or a truth wrongly understood.
4. We have thought that the apologetic or proof of our faith was our truth and that love was the power behind it but we are wrong. The apologetic or proof of our faith is our love and the power behind our love is the truth.

Let the World see our love. Let the Church seek after truth. If you would love others -- first love the truth. Pursue what true and you will pursue love.
