True Disciple

In John 8, Jesus warns His Jewish accusers that they are in danger of dying in their sins. Yet this encounter ends with this seemingly hopeful statement (8:30): As He spoke these things many came to believe in Him.
What do you think about their apparent, true or false…? How can you know? How do we distinguish between a true disciple and a false follower? And how about you? Are you a true disciple or a false follower? (Or maybe still dead in your sins?)
Jesus explains four characteristics of a true disciple.

1. Love. Love of His word (v.31).
2. Freedom. Freedom from sin (vv.32-34).
3. Security. Eternal security (vv.35-36).
4. Reflection. Showing His image (vv.37-38).
