The King's Compassion on the Superstitious
Series Gospel of Matthew
65
As thousands of people press about Jesus for healing, they are all under the impression that a mere touch of the fringe of his cloak will give them healing of whatever sickness of disease they have. Wherever this notion came from, it represents a wrong view of Christ. Christ does not even have to be present to heal, and only His Word is necessary to give deliverance. We often have our wrong beliefs about what will spur God's compassion toward us. Yet, as Christ was still compassionate even on those with wrong ideas, so He is merciful to all who call upon Him - even if our ideas about Him are not all correct. God's mercy is not shown on those who perform exactly perfect rituals or who have precise faith; but on all who cry for mercy.
