Honor That Comes From God Only

God honors men who honor Him. In the terms of the law, to receive God's honor, we must patiently, continue in well-doing (Romans 2:7, 10). But no man can receive honor from God, can be justified by God, by keeping the law. All men, by their disobedience, have dishonored God and justly deserve God's dishonor of them. But the gospel is this: God justifies; He justifies by His grace alone without looking or finding reason in us (freely); He justifies solely on the grounds of the redemption that is in Christ, which He obtained for His people by His death on the cross. Christ alone honored God in a way that earned God's honor of Him. Believing Christ honors God, because faith says what God says about His Son. All, and only they, who see and are persuaded and embrace and confess (Heb 11:13) that Christ alone is their satisfaction and righteousness before God, honor God and are honored by Him: He declares them to be just in His sight.
