Key of David

Christ is the rightful possessor of the Key of David, which represents three aspects of His character & work.

I. Christ’s faithfulness is foreshadowed by Eliakim’s unfaithfulness (Isaiah 22:20-25).

II. Christ’s authority as Judge includes the right to open or shut the doors to the kingdom (Revelation 3:7-8).

III. Christ has delegated His authority to the church via the preaching & teaching of the gospel
(Matthew 16:18-20).
