Qualifications of Deacons

In 1 Tim 3:8-13, Paul gives eight qualifications for the man who would serve in the office of a deacon in the church. These qualifications are grouped by moral characteristics (v8), spiritual characteristics (vv9-10) and family characteristics (vv11-12). Then the deacon's reward is stated, as if to give some incentive to persevere in this difficult role.
