Timothy was given a twofold calling: Strengthening and Encouraging. By strengthening the Thessalonian's faith and encouraging them in their faith, Timothy was helping the Thessalonians to turn from idols unto the living God. The only way that man can know the truth and live in reality is to live, think, and reason according to the word of God.
