Grace & Peace from the Triune God

John by the Spirit of God has said much within a very few verses. Here he reiterates that to the churches of Jesus Christ there is grace and peace from the Triune God. Two important doctrines are here; the doctrine of the church and the doctrine of God. It is as if John would say before getting into the thick of eschatological things, 'Let's make sure we're all on the same page concerning who you are and who God is.' The eschatological things in this book cannot possibly be helpful to our faith or applied correctly to our lives if we err on either of these two points.
