  1. New birth involves the removal of a heart of stone

A heart of stone is cold, hard, dead, unfeeling, and unresponsive

A new heart is one that can feel; this is the regeneration of a sinner

  1. New birth gives to the sinner God's Holy Spirit
This gift of the Holy Spirit is a supernatural event

  2. New birth involves awareness of sin - Ezekiel 36:37
Repentance from sin is granted by God - II Timothy 2:25

  3. New birth involves writing the law of God on believers hearts - Ezekiel 11:19
God gives us a desire to obey and the power and strength to obey

  4. New birth involves believers actual adoption into His family - Jeremiah 31:33
He will be our God and we will be His people

  5. New birth involves God's initiative and God's actions
Sixteen times God says “I will” in Ezekiel 36:22-38
God is the author and finisher of our faith - God does it all and He does it for His Holy Name!
