Paul's Summary Exhortations - Part One

Paul recognized that the Corinthian factions were symptomatic rather than problematic; the underlying cause of their divisions was their failure to think and judge with the mind of Christ. They were operating as if they were still "men of flesh" rather than men of the Spirit. Thus Paul summarized his treatment of this issue by returning to the antithesis between natural (worldly) wisdom and the wisdom associated with the mind of Christ, but in order to directly confront the Corinthians with a series of exhortations. This sermon considers the first two of those exhortations.
