Jeremiah, Prophet of Doom and Renewal

As a consequence of Judah's wickedness God brings about the captivity. (Jer. 21:7, 22:8-9) Jeremiah explains the causes of the exile, the historical context, and the prophecy of the New Covenant that God had planned in his sovereignty for the people of God. (Jer. 31:31-33)

Lamentations is about the destruction of Jerusalem and how the mercy of the Lord continues even throughout a period of Judgment.(Lam 1:1, 3:21-23)
