The Gospel Promised in the Scriptures

God is the originator, author, owner, subject and executor of the gospel. In the Old Testament Scriptures, the gospel wasn't novel or commonplace but it was rare. Relatively few heard it and even fewer understood it. Nevertheless, God announced it directly, in type and in prophecy. As it has been said: "the Old Testament is the promise of the New; and, the New is the accomplishment of the Old".
