Jesus Teaches the Forgive-ability of All Sins! (5 of ?)
Series Gospel of Mark
JESUS TEACHES THE FORGIVE-ABILITY OF ALL SIN!
In this section Jesus opposition to the Scribes and Pharisees of the law increases. The people are amazed at His works and they try to scandalize the very works that demonstrate presence and word of God in their midst. They accuse Jesus of being demonic and even the chief of demons, Beelzebub.
In answering their charge Jesus makes a remarkable statement about the forgive-ability of all sin. While many of our eyes fall to the next phrase about what shall not be forgiven (THE UNFORGIVABLE SIN), I'm convinced the emphasis should be placed on the former. That ALL SINS SHALL BEFORE GIVEN MEN.
This really is the Gospel. Yours, mine and all sins can be forgiven, washed and cleansed by the blood of Christ. What is unforgivable? Persistent unbelief, hard-heartedness. Yes, in the end, this alone is what will and cannot be forgiven.
Thanks be to God for His grace!!
