Introduction

I: THE REGULATIONS OF THE EARTHLY SANCTUARY (1-5)

A: The overview of the earthly sanctuary (i.e. the wilderness tabernacle)

1: The First part: the Sanctuary or the Holy place. (v.2) The 	lampstand and the showbread or bread of the presence. 

2: What is behind the second veil: the Holiest of all or the 	Holy of Holies or the most holy place (vv. 3,4) The 2nd Veil  	(Ex. 26:31) 

3: The mercy seat (Ex. 25:22) 

B: The overview of the priestly regulations (vv. 6,7) References are to the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16)

II: THE LIMITATIONS OF THE EARTHLY SANCTUARY (6-10)

A: The message communicated (v. 9) Tabernacle was symbolic. The Greek reads “is a parable for the time now present.” (Gen. 3:24)

B: The repetition (v. 6,7,25) Every day, every week, every year.

C: Only External (v. 9,10,13) Fleshly ordinances

D: Only Copies (9:9; 8:5; 9:23, 24)

III: THE FULFILLMENT OF THE EARTHLY SANCTUARY (11-14)

A: Jesus Christ is the new tabernacle; He fulfilled all of the copies and shadows

Jesus is the greater and more perfect tabernacle –

John 1:14 - And the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us …

B: The regulations and the limitations were removed in Jesus.
