God's Plan for the Nation (P2): Ripeness for and Inescapability of Judgment

Amos continues with his fourth and fifth vision. Where the plumb line of chapter 7 gave the standard for judgment, chapter 8's basket of summer fruit shows Israel's ripeness for judgment and chapter 9's vision of the Lord standing by the altar shows the inescapability of God's judgment for that generation of Israel. This passage also gave opportunity to address "prophetic depth perception," a useful tool in interpreting the prophets.
