The Superiority of the New Covenant

There is a disagreement about whether Jesus was simply introducing the new covenant or if He was inaugurating the new covenant when He went to the cross. In either case, the blood of Jesus, the ultimate paschal lamb, was the guarantee of that covenant for Hebrews 7:22 says that "Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant.
