Jesus Received

Last week we saw the apostle John establishing that Jesus is "the Word" - our God, our Creator and our Redeemer (1:1-5). Once John helped his readers to recognize that Jesus is the Word of God (the life and the light), he began sharing the basis and benefits of receiving Him (1:6-13). First, he entreats them to accept the witness of John the Baptist, who was sent from God as an accurate testimony of the light.
