Aim: To arrive safely in heaven, having already experienced it (here) in Christ.

Doctrine: Finishing well requires leaving a continuous ministry legacy that models undying faithfulness and that inspires confidence in the goodness of God.

Exegesis: The unique perspectives of Churchmen who are finishing well: they view their lives as offerings to God (v. 6), as fulfilling a great purpose (v. 7), and as trophies of God's grace (v. 8).

Further application: How to finish faith's journey well: be sure to start your spiritual expedition properly, and be content to find your satisfaction in Christ alone.

Key verse: v. 8 ''Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.''
