The Fellowship of the Spirit

The coming of the Holy Spirit on the first believers was a revelation of the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. Together with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God, this is the gift that must come to us from above. There is one God and one Lord and one Spirit who can bring us into oneness. I say 'into' because it is a fellowship already in action between Father and Son by the Spirit. On the day we call Pentecost, people were attracted by the miracle of tongues, but were also confronted by the reality of a community who shared freely and loved deeply. This is the purpose of the Father, to create his community in the earth, a people in whom his own loving can be seen.
