When God Does Not Seem To Hear

Habakkuk uses six words to describe the terrible conduct of his nation Judah: Violence, Iniquity, Spoiling, Strive, Contention and Injustice (Habakkuk 1:1-4).
He anguished over the ever-increasing depravity around him and asks God four questions: “How long shall I cry and you will not hear?” “How long shall I cry out about this violence and you will not deliver?” “Why do you make me see all this iniquity?” and “Why do you cause me to behold all this wrong?”
I think we can identify with Habakkuk anguish. There are times in our lives when God does not seem to be hearing us. We cry out, but the situation only gets worse.
Habakkuk was pleading with God to do something: to stop their bleeding; to change their course; to restore the order and to revive the nation, but God seemed distance. It was as if God’s voice was muted, and His power was impotent against the tsunami of cultural and moral decline.
