The Bread of Life in Soul-Winning

180

In this all-important business of seeing people converted to Christ, we are not dealing with opinions, speculations, philosophies, arguments, and “techniques” – but with the eternal, unchanging truth of God's Word. A farmer with great skill and industry can sow vast fields, but if the seed is bad, there will be a disappointing harvest.

This seed is said to be “precious” because God's Word is rare. The enemies of the Gospel are plentiful. Satan is always present to “snatch” the good seed as soon as it is sown. In the last days, there will be a “famine” of hearing the Word of God (Amos 8:11). We must see the primacy and power of the truth of God's Word in our witnessing and reaffirm our faith in it.

The Word of God is the secret of the soul-winner's success. It is not due to his knowledge, personal magnetism or persuasive powers. In light of the promised power of this “good seed,” let us “sow beside all waters” (Isa. 32:20). Let us meditate in and saturate our heart and mind with God's Word (Ps. 1:1-3). Let us seek to use the “sword of the Spirit” in dependence upon the Spirit of God (Eph. 6:17). Wherever we go, let us sow the Word and “steep” it with our tears.
