Paradise Lost

Every tragedy of human history has its roots in the horrifying events of this chapter. Adam and Eve had every incentive to obey God and to persevere in holiness, but they used their free estate to rise up against their Creator, thereby plunging all of their descendants into an estate of sin and misery. But in the midst of the wreckage and against the background of all that Adam lost by his fall, God revealed the promise of the coming Redeemer and the way in which all that the first Adam lost would be regained by the Lord Jesus Christ.
