What Belongs to Such Prayer that is Acceptable to God and Heard by Him – 3 Conditions (Heidelberg Catechism #117):

A. That We Call Upon the One True God with Our Whole Heart – 4 Thoughts

· That our Prayers are to be Directed to God Alone (1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25; Isaiah 45:20, 22; Psalm 115:4-8; John 16:23; 1 Kings 18:20-40)

· That Our Prayers are in the Knowledge of God’s Commandment (Hebrews 13:15-16)

· That Ours Prayer are in the Knowledge of the things, Which We Ought to Ask of God – Spiritual and Temporal Things (Romans 8:26; James 1:7-8; John 3:27; Matthew 6:25-34)

· That there is a True Desire for Those Things, Which We Ask of God (Luke 18:9-14; Matthew 6:5-6)

B. That We Thoroughly Know Our Need and Misery;

C. That Our Assurance of God Hearing is Solely Based Upon Christ, as Promised in His Word

Conclusion and Application

· Let us Approach the Throne of Grace in the Same Confidence as David in Psalm 86:7
