Peter says concerning the Apostle Paul, "His letters contain some things that are hard to understand..." The same thing could be said about the Apostle Peter, especially the passage before us today. Martin Luther wrote, "This is a strange text and certainly a more obscure passage than any other in the NT. I still do not know for sure what the apostle means."
