The Only Mediator

Paul's first direct instruction for the Ephesian church under Timothy's ministry is that of prayer. The prayer he urges them to pray is far-reaching in that it should be for "all people," including "kings and all who are in high positions." The basis of such bold prayer is found in the mediatorial work of Christ Jesus. As the mediator, he alone makes reconciliation between God and man. This he can do because he is the God-Man who has given his very self as the payment that restores fellowship with the Father. This truth animates Paul's ministry, for it highlights the work of Christ for those "from every tribe and language and people and nation." Let us learn of our Savior's person and work, for he alone is the only mediator between ourselves and the God we adore!
