Lord of the Sabbath

Luke records the growing tension between the Jewish elders and Jesus. They both had expectations of the kingdom of God and the Messiah who would rule it. However, both had very different notions about how and when that kingdom would appear.
Luke 6 narrows the controversy to one of the main institutions of Judaism--the Sabbath. Here Luke records two incidents that demonstrate Jesus was truly the "Lord of the Sabbath."
