Christmas Past: Proclaiming Immanuel

Once again we learn about Christmas Past, this time by examining how Zechariah
comes to realize the gracious faithfulness of the Lord when He comes to "be with" His
people. During his long months of silence John's father has come to appreciate the
wondrous mercy of God in giving to His people the gift of His only Begotten Son.
Zechariah testifies to this through:

1. The naming of his son.

2. The prophecy that he proclaims:
   a. The Lord's Messiah has come.

b. The Abrahamic covenant is fulfilled.

c. The promised prophet has arrived.
