Test the Spirits

In his letters John writes to his "dear children" of the faith because he knows that they
have been confused by the teachings of false prophets who have gone out from the
church. To counter this, John presents a threefold test so his readers can determine
whether a person is a Christian or not: the theological test, the moral test, and the social
test.
