John Calvin is well-known for saying that our fallen human hearts are "idol factories."
We love to set our devotion upon everything and anything other than the one true God.
The Second Commandment addresses this basic human fault. Our Catechism this
evening instructs us on how the First and the Second Commandments differ and how
they interact with one another.
In Lord's Day 35 we see:
The intention of the Second Commandment.
The negative prohibition of the Second Commandment.
The positive prescription of the Second Commandment.
